SEND
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
At Alwyn we want all children to feel socially and academically included. We have a whole-school approach to meeting the educational needs of our pupils and above all, we value the importance of meeting the individual and diverse needs of all children within our school.
Quotes from our OFSTED inspection, November 2023
- The school has a highly inclusive culture.
- Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are supported well.
- The school is determined for all pupils to experience success.
- If any pupils have barriers to their attendance, the school works closely with families and addresses these in supportive and effective ways
- The school identifies pupils with SEND quickly and ensures that these pupils get the additional support they need. The school works effectively with outside agencies to help staff understand how to support pupils’ specific needs, for example through training on autism spectrum disorder. As a result, pupils with SEND achieve as well as other pupils.
We recognise that some of our children will need special provision during their time with us and this type of provision will vary from child to child according to their individual needs. The best way to find out all the things that we can do to support your child is to come and talk to us. Our SENDCo is Stefanie Pena and you contact her via the school office.

All local authorities must have a record or register of children with Special Educational Needs and / or Disabilities (SEND) in their area. If you live in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, we encourage anyone whose family includes a child or young person who has a special educational need or disability to register. Everyone on the register will benefit from:
